Key Responsibilities - Client Success/Training

  • Provide responsive and effective support to customers via phone, tickets, and teacher chat for both School and Campus products.
  • Address and resolve customer issues related to software functionality, usage, and potential problems.
  • Maintain detailed records of customer interactions and issues within the Freshdesk ticket system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain robust web applications using PHP and MySQL.
  • Design and optimize MySQL database schemas, indexes, and queries for performance.
  • Work on full-stack projects involving front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Vue.js).
  • Develop and maintain RESTful APIs to support front-end and mobile applications.
  • Identify and fix complex bugs in both front-end and back-end systems.
  • Mentor junior developers and assist with code reviews.
  • Write and maintain technical documentation for systems, processes, and APIs.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and QA to deliver features on time.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3-5 years of experience in full stack development.

  • Experience with back-end development and RESTful API design.
  • Familiarity with database management systems.
  • Proficiency in version control systems (e.g., Git).

About Us:

Sycamore is a leading School/Student Information System, providing schools with a comprehensive platform to manage classes, grades, attendance, cafeteria, admissions, financial management and much more. We are committed to simplifying school operations and improving the educational experience for students and staff.

Position Overview:

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Summer Intern to assist with our Year End Closeout process. This internship offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and training in data management and system administration in an educational technology setting. The intern will support the closeout process for schools using our system, ensuring the finalization, archiving, and clearing of school data for the end of the academic year.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Attend Training
    • Training will be needed for a successful internship, and will be the first step in this process to ensure the intern is ready to proceed with the successful completion for this assignment.
  2. Prepare for Year-End Closeout
    • Assist in preparing schools for the Year End Closeout by reviewing and following the checklist for data finalization.
    • Ensure that all required documentation and resources are organized and accessible for the Year End Closeout process.
  3. Data Saving
    • Work under the guidance of the Sycamore Support team and collaborate closely with School Super Admins to archive student data, including grades, attendance, cafeteria, and childcare information.
    • Verify that all necessary reports are generated (e.g., attendance details, grade reports, cafeteria summaries).
    • Save and organize documents in student profiles and report archives, ensuring compliance with internal best practices.
  4. Data Clearing
    • Clear school year-specific data after archiving, including attendance records, cafeteria orders, and grade information.
    • Assist in clearing other necessary data (e.g., discipline logs, class rosters) as part of the transition to the new school year.
  5. Wrapping Up for the New Year
    • Assist in setting up new school year data for schools transitioning to the next academic year.
    • Work within the Sycamore Admissions module to add new students, enroll families, and populate classes.
    • Help create new year-specific accounts and notifications as required for the new academic year.
  6. Documentation and Reporting
    • Maintain clear documentation of tasks completed, issues encountered, and steps taken during the Year End Closeout.
    • Provide regular updates to supervisors on progress and any challenges faced during the process.

Requirements:

  • Education: Currently enrolled in a college or university, preferably in a program related to Information Systems, Education Technology, Business Administration, or similar fields.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with data management systems, spreadsheets (Excel/Google Sheets), and report generation is a plus.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to follow complex instructions and ensure accuracy while handling sensitive data.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting processes and reporting issues.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and address challenges that arise during the closeout process.
  • Team Player: Willingness to collaborate with internal teams and ask for help when needed.

Internship Duration:

This is a summer internship, with flexible start and end dates, typically lasting from May to August.

Schedule

  • Monday-Friday
  • 12 paid hours/week
  • Specific times to be determined by our Director of Client Success
